Work on public holidays and rest days - Under Kenya’s Employment Act and confirmed by multiple workplace compliance guidelines, employees who work on a gazetted public holiday or their normal rest day are entitled to double pay—i.e., 200% of their regular daily or hourly wage.

Section 4 of the Public Holidays Act (Cap. 110) states that if a designated public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the next following weekday that is not already a public holiday becomes the observed holiday.
Holiday Work Pay – Employees working on those official holidays must receive 2× their normal pay.
